In 2022, the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration enacted new laws regulating how states can train their commercial drivers.
Part of those rules includes FMCSA entry-level driver training courses that will ensure every commercial driver has the same basic knowledge of rules, regulations and the operation of their vehicle.

The new ELDT regulations require those individuals seeking a passenger (P) endorsement to complete entry-level driver training education.
CDL Truck Service’s online Passenger Theory course satisfies the federal requirements for entry-level driver training.
After completing this course, you’ll be prepared to take and pass any qualifying exams, but you’ll also need to complete road and range behind-the-wheel training.
Individuals seeking a passenger endorsement for this first time will be required to enroll and complete an FMCSA-approved ELDT Passenger Theory course.
Additionally, individuals seeking a School Bus endorsement will also be required to earn a Passenger endorsement as well.

A large portion of the course includes information about safety before, during, and after the operation of the vehicle. This includes information about seat belt safety, passenger safety, security, and crime awareness.
During this course, you’ll learn information about the basic operation of a passenger vehicle. This includes basic maneuvers, orientation, as well as things like fueling and other important techniques.
Emergency and safety procedures you’ll learn include railroad and highway crossings, security and crime, weigh stations, and roadside inspections. After this course, you’ll know what to do if you’re in an emergency situation.
Ensuring that your passengers are safe is a fundamental part of having a P endorsement. This course will help teach you the skills you need to manage your passengers, keep them safe, and identify potential problems.
Once you’ve taken and passed the Passenger Theory course, you’ll need to acquire you commercial learner’s permit and sign up for behind-the-wheel training. Here, you’ll finish learning everything you need to take and pass your driving exam.View Courses
