Learn MoreWhen people begin looking into a life of professional driving, a trucking school looks like the simplest and most effective way to get their license. Our Class A truck rentals and Class B truck rentals include one-on-one instruction with a fully-licensed and experienced CDL instructor. They’ll show you the ropes and provide you with a plan to learn everything you need so that you can pass the CDL skills test on the first try.

Learn MoreFirst, you’ll need to fill out all of the initial paperwork to determine if you’re eligible to get a commercial driver’s license. If you are, you’ll then need to pass 3-4 exams that cover the rules of the road and other important commercial driving skills. They include:
The requirements to qualify for a CDL in Texas are going to vary depending on the type of license you’re pursuing. The Texas Department of Public Safety will deny applicants who have a poor driving record, health problems that inhibit their ability to drive, or a history of drug use. You may also need to pass a physical exam, and more information about that can be found on the Texas DPS website.
Passing the CDL Skills test is the final hurdle to getting your commercial driver’s license in Texas. The test has three parts:
Pre-Trip Inspection - The first part of the exam takes place before you even start the vehicle. You’ll be assessed on your ability to determine the vehicle’s roadworthiness, and that includes testing your ability to activate the air brakes.
Basic Maneuvers - The second part of the exam takes place on a closed course. You’ll be tested on your ability to drive, turn, back up, and park a commercial vehicle.
Road Test - The final part of the test takes place on the open road. You’ll be assessed on your ability to drive in standard traffic conditions and on your knowledge of the rules of the road for commercial vehicles.
Driving commercial vehicles can be a lucrative and rewarding career, but you don’t need to break the bank to get licensed. If you want to get your CDL fast and affordably, contact Texas CDL Truck Services today.
