The Affordable Alternative To Truck Driving Schools

When people begin looking into a life of professional driving, a trucking school looks like the simplest and most effective way to get their license. For some, it may be a great option, but a trucking school can cost thousands of dollars. A lot of working folks just don’t have that kind of money laying around.

Texas CDL Truck Services offers a cost-effective alternative to trucking schools. We offer truck rentals, complete with an experienced CDL trainer that can help you learn everything you need to pass the Texas CDL skills test and get your license.

Need to get your permit first? We can help with that, too. We offer CDL test preparation and practice tests that can help you prepare for any licensing test you may have. You’ll study with the exact same questions you’ll face on tests, too.

If you want to get a Texas CDL without breaking the bank, contact Texas CDL Truck Services today.

  • First, you’ll need to fill out all of the initial paperwork to determine if you’re eligible to get a commercial driver’s license. If you are, you’ll then need to pass 3-4 exams that cover the rules of the road and other important commercial driving skills. They include:

    • Texas Commercial Rules exam
    • General Knowledge exam
    • Combination exam (For Class A Licenses)
    • Air brakes test
    • Any endorsement exams
  • The requirements to qualify for a CDL in Texas are going to vary depending on the type of license you’re pursuing. The Texas Department of Public Safety will deny applicants who have a poor driving record, health problems that inhibit their ability to drive, or a history of drug use. You may also need to pass a physical exam, and more information about that can be found on the Texas DPS website.

  • Passing the CDL Skills test is the final hurdle to getting your commercial driver’s license in Texas. The test has three parts:

Pre-Trip Inspection - The first part of the exam takes place before you even start the vehicle. You’ll be assessed on your ability to determine the vehicle’s roadworthiness, and that includes testing your ability to activate the air brakes.

Basic Maneuvers - The second part of the exam takes place on a closed course. You’ll be tested on your ability to drive, turn, back up, and park a commercial vehicle.

Road Test - The final part of the test takes place on the open road. You’ll be assessed on your ability to drive in standard traffic conditions and on your knowledge of the rules of the road for commercial vehicles.
